This Manic Mama
My name is Lindsey and I am a Bipolar, single-mom, recently-graduated graduate student living in Canada. I hold both a Master of Arts in Film Studies and a Master of Library and Information Studies. I have been published in Revolutionary Mothering: Love on the Frontlines (PM Press), Don’t Leave Your Friends Behind: Concrete Ways to Support Families in Social Justice Movements and Communities (PM Press), Hip Mama Magazine, Mothering Magazine, Off Our Backs, on Stigmama.com, Synoptique: An Online Journal of Film and Moving Image Studies, Sight on Sound, Literary Kitchen, and Offscreen.com. Additionally, I hosted and produced This Manic Mama (2011-2014) and In the Motherhood, a monthly radio program for Montreal’s CKUT (2012-2014). Girl-Mom, a play that I created, was based on the radical feminist site Girlmom.com, was produced as a radio play and has been staged at several festivals across North America.
This Manic Mama podcastThis Manic Mama was an alternative parenting podcast; there were 43 episodes produced between 2011 and 2014. This Manic Mama worked to highlight real moms and dads working hard to raise their kids to be conscious and critical citizens of the world. Guests included documentary filmmaker Suzan Beraza (Bag It!. 2010), Goldman Environmental Prize recipient Maria Gunnoe, Wooster College Anthropology and Women’s Studies professor Dr. Christa Craven, and "the mother of authentic midwifery" Ina May Gaskin. TMM is committed to dissecting the tangle of intersections that limit and define us, such as: age, race, sex, class, gender, and sexuality, ability, neuro-divergence, and Other difference; exposing political and corporate systems; exploring environmental issues; opening critical dialogues; and proposing solutions to action. This Manic Mama podcast is archived on soundcloud. |
